After studying at the Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva, Victor Pereira continued on the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espectáculo – Instituto Politécnico do Porto. Throughout his academic career he worked with Agostinho Vieira, Luís Carvalho, Luís Silva, Nuno Pinto and graduated at António Saiote’s class, having been awarded the prize “Fundação Eng. António de Almeida”. Afterwards he received his Masters of Music in “musical performance” from Universidade de Aveiro, where he worked with Alain Damiens. At the same time, he has taken master classes with Perez Piquer, Michel Arrignon, Paul Meyer, Alain Damiens, Howard Klug, Phillipe Cupper, Guy Chadash and Guy Deplus.

Victor was a prize winner in several competitions like the “II Concurso Nacional de Jovens Clarinetistas” (superior level – 1st prize), organized by the Portuguese Clarinet Association; “I Concurso Internacional de Clarinete do Porto”(3rd prize and prize of the public); “Prémio Jovens Músicos” (superior level – 3rd prize). Victor also was a finalist at the “3rd Osaka International Chamber Musica Competition” in japan and received the 2nd prize in the category Chamber Music (superior level) at the “Prémio Jovens Músicos”.

Since 2000, Victor Pereira is the Soloist of the Remix Ensemble Casa da Música, where he worked with maestros like Stefan Asbury, Ilan Volkov, Kasper de Roo, Pierre-André Valade, Rolf Gupta, Peter Rundel, Jonathan Stockhammer, Jurjen Hempel, Matthias Pintscher, Franck Ollu, Reinbert de Leeuw, Diego Masson, Emilio Pomàrico and Paul Hillier, performing in the best portuguese theatres and in cities like Valencia, Rotterdam, Huddersfield, Barcelona, Strasburg, Paris, Orleans, Bourges, Reims, Antwerp, Madrid, Budapest, Norrköping, Vienna, Witten, Berlin, Amsterdam and Brussels. Victor recorded works of Emmanuel Nunes, Miguel Azeguime, António Pinho Vargas, Nuno Corte-Real, Jorge Peixinho, Bernhard Lang, James Dillon, Brice Pauset, Johannes Maria Staud, Klaus Ib Jorgensen and Wolfgang Miterer to the labels Numérica, Casa da Músca, Westdeutscher Rundfunk WDR, Villa Concordia, Da Capo, Aeon and Col Legno.

As soloist he performed works such as the Mozart’s Concerto em Lá M K.622, the Concerto for clarinet by Elliott Carter, Ária by Pascal Dusapin, Domaines by Pierre Boulez, Babil by Georges Aperghis, among others. Regarding the chamber music he integrated groups as Quarteto de Clarinetes do Porto and the wind quintet Versus, having also a regular performance with the Remix Ensemble Soloists. Was yet invited to cooperate with Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Orquestra Gulbenkian, Filarmonia das Beiras and Ensemble Orquestral do Porto.

Performed premières of the works Coor from the composer Angela Lopes, Epiclesis from Virgílio Melo, Limiar from the composer Carlos Caíres and Étude from Toshio Hosokawa.

At the same time he teaches clarinet and chamber music at Academia de Música de Castelo de Paiva and at Escola Profissional de Música de Espinho.
