Remix Ensemble chose to use the homage to Georges Aperghis, Composer in Residence in 2016, as an excuse to revisit two emblematic works from his repertoire that were greatly responsible for his internationalization. See Saw explores the principle of fragmentation, widely used in Aperghis’ writing, while the concert for clarinet Babil respects the principles of virtuosity, opposition and contrast, typical of the concertante tradition.
In a program with great aesthetic diversity, Remix debuts a piece commissioned by Casa da Música to the Portuguese composer Virgílio Melo and presents for the first time Arena 2, by Magnus Lindberg. Xenakis’ Thalleïn, completes the program marking the 15th anniversary of the death of the greatest Greek composer of the 20th century.
